Data Migration Manager – 2003 to 2003

Responsible for ensuring the auto migration of data from legacy systems into SAP, whilst maintaining efficient support on legacy systems.

Achievements:

  • Project managed data migration accurately and on schedule, having required to resource plan & subsequently accelerate delivery to ensure deadlines were met.
  • Averted incomplete solution being delivered by identifying necessary, but missing data elements. whilst not impacting migration, this would have impacted the project key performance indicators.
  • Gained buy in from key stakeholders over approach to migration and data cleansing giving business additional flexibility over resource planning.
  • Influenced& led to change of strategy for system cutover, minimising risks involved.
  • Developed report suite to assist management of business data issues

Business Consultant/Support Team Leader – Aug 2000 – 2002

Responsible for support team delivery against legacy systems. in additions, used as a skilled resource to provide input to various project based activities.

Achievements:

  • Identified capability for automated SMS & other messaging technology to allow pro-active attention to database & file problems.
  • Initiated a change control forum, having recognised the additional controls & decision making required in an ever changing environment.
  • Eliminated multiple potential points of failure in legacy systems, reducing servers from 4 to 2.
  • Planned a contingency solution to work with legacy systems had major industry change (RGMA) gone ahead April – July 2003 as originally scheduled
  • Influenced deferral of Transco meter asset pricing disaggregation, saving BP from potential liability for asset charges not contractually recoverable from customers (several £m’s).
  • Delivered solutions for meter reading separation, meter asset pricing disaggregation and Climate Change Levy

  • Contributed to reduction of customer debt in excess of 60% by working with stakeholders to specify and deliver valuable quick wins.

  • Improved billing efficiency by improving meter reading capture close to 100% innovating with fuzzy meter serial number matching – a 40% improvement.
  • Recruited, coached and trained new support personnel, running teach-ins to extend depth of knowledge within the team.
  • Initiated change control process to manage requests for new work & data fixes, cutting backlog to a quarter inside two weeks.

BP Gas Marketing

Operations\Joint Venture Coordinator – Dec 1991 – March 1997

Responsible for various operations requirements, including Gas nominations, demand forecasting, billing team leader & joint venture operations

Achievements:

  • Enabled wholesale customer to start their invoicing run in half the normal timescales by instigating manual process & flexing resource to deliver the data they required.
  • Specified systems for meter reading report to improve Join Venture partners billing arrangements, completing invoicing in reduced timescales.
  • Completed billing run in a quarter of normal timescales to allow successful migration to new systems to schedule
  • Trial of remote meter reading services to improve demand forecasting
