Memorable achievements or life events
- ~ 1974 – As a boy soprano, had a credited solo spot in a commercial LP record album.
- ~ 1988 – Pre-recorded solo spot singing the opening of Midnight Mass for a Scottish Television broadcast. Sadly, Taggart over-ran and my spot got chopped.
- ~ 1992 – Left Scotland to take up employment in London
- ~ 1993 – After a fail to show by a delivery company, I persuaded the Retailer that it was a good idea to provide mobile phones to their drivers to allow them to contact customers, which they then implemented. After all, they were trying to persuade me via their instore display that mobile phone technology was the future.
- 1997 – Married my wife Elizabeth (Liz)
- 1997 – Following problems in capturing meter readings (only ~60% due to inconsistent meter serial numbers), I developed algorithms to ‘fuzzy’ match the serial numbers, increasing the meter read capture and billing efficiency by 40% in one fell swoop.
- 2000 – First daughter (Shona) born
- 2001 – Second Daughter (Lindsey) born
- 2001 – Successfully lobbied for deferral of Transco meter asset pricing disaggregation, saving BP from potential liability for asset charges not contractually recoverable from customers (several £m’s).
- 2003 – Project managed data migration accurately and on schedule, taking several million data items across from legacy systems into SAP.
- 2004 – Privileged be a British Airways prizewinner and fly on Concorde in its final week of flight.
- 2005 – Transferred within BP to the PetroChemicals organisation mid year and brought their SOx 404 programme back on track, implemented new processes and met end of year deadlines despite distraction arising from disposal of business.
- 2007 – Successfully managed migration of existing Sarbanes Oxley (Microsoft Word based) documentation into the OpenPages (relational database) compliance database using data transformation and import toolsets.
- 2009 – In private life, spotted a commercial opportunity ahead of much of the toy market and capitalised on the success of the scarce Go Go Hamsters by devloping an affiliate based website that sourced available stock and introduced buyer to seller. Site was built from readily available tools, but ‘plumbed’ together by me by leveraging self-learn activities.
2010 – Being mafde redundant in Summer 2010 due to my role being relocated to Malaysia.
